Improve Heart Health for Portland Seniors With Group Exercise Classes

An older adult man wearing glasses with his arms stretched to his sides smiles as he participates in a group exercise class.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control says that physical activity “reduces the risk of dying from coronary heart disease and of developing high blood pressure, colon cancer, and diabetes.” As one of the leading causes of death in the United States, heart disease is a concern for many adults. By staying active through physical activity, seniors can help keep heart disease at bay.

Senior centers and organizations in the Portland area have fitness classes and events to provide older adults with opportunities to get their bodies moving. Many of these classes and events are inexpensive or free, so staying active doesn’t have to break the bank.

Below are organizations and senior center locations that offer ongoing fitness programs that cater to an array of interests of seniors in the Portland area.
