Randy Bulow, CSA

It was a tough decision. But, after raising our five kids, my wife and I decided to move back where we had grown up to care for my aging mother, who has dementia.

After a career in the consumer and natural products industry, I wanted to give back to my mom and assess how her dementia of nearly ten years was affecting her. My siblings and I had hired quality in-home care for her five years earlier, but I wanted to re-connect and spend quality time. So, my wife and I moved in with her!

After spending a fantastic year with mom, we came to understand the challenges of aging and dementia in particular, very personally. We also came to understand her need for more medical oversight and social interaction. The search for finding the perfect place for my mother and her dog seemed daunting and intimidating.

It was then we discovered Oasis Senior Advisors. It proved to be precisely the knowledgeable, caring, and reassuring guidance that my siblings and we needed. My mother is now in the perfect place, and I’m delighted to offer that same personal, reassuring guidance for families in the North Metro Denver area.

When I was 8 years old, I would visit my great-grandmother in a nursing home, and I wondered how I could help make life more meaningful for everyone living there. I began dreaming up my own perfect elder care community. Practicality took over, though, and in college I pursued my other dream of teaching and graduated from the University of Nebraska in Elementary and Special Education.

I’ve taught all elementary grades, Special Education and Reading. During that time, I took a sabbatical from my kindergarten job to become the primary caregiver for Randy’s dear mom, who has dementia. As I worked to bring meaning and joy to her life, it occurred to me I was getting to dip my toe into that long-ago passion.

When my sabbatical was coming to an end, we found ourselves struggling to find the best community for Randy’s mom that would build into her life in a meaningful way the way we had endeavored for the past year. That search was a frustrating process to do on our own. Then we discovered Oasis Senior Advisors. With the help of our wonderful advisor, we found her the perfect fit, and we caught the vision for how we could help other families in our situation.

I knew what I was meant to do with this next phase of my life. Instead of helping families with the magical transition into formal education as a kindergarten teacher, I now get to bring relief and hope to families as they make this transition in this later stage of life. And very often, it’s magical. I’m so grateful I get to do this with Randy and Anna and our wonderful team.

In my free time, I love gardening, rescuing worms and weeding as well as spending time with our large family, including our sweet grandsons.

Gracie Ahn

Born in Seoul, South Korea, I moved to Los Angeles, California, at the tender age of three with my parents. Growing up, I immersed myself in my family's businesses, supporting my parents.
As a young teenager, I found myself thrust into the role of advocate for my father amidst his health battles, navigating the intricacies of the healthcare system on his behalf. Later, when my mother was diagnosed with cancer, I advocated fiercely for her while witnessing firsthand the profound impact of hospice care. I learned that everyone deserves to receive the support and compassion they need.
Decades of experience in sales and business development, particularly within residential and healthcare real estate, senior living communities, and home care, have fostered a compassionate spirit and a wealth of expertise in my role as a Senior Living Advisor. I'm motivated by a profound desire to see people thrive at every stage of life.
True to my belief in giving back, you'll often find me serving as an advocate and mentor in my community and church. When I'm not busy helping others, you can bet I'll be outdoors, relishing the beauty of our mountains alongside friends and my beloved dog, Lucy.

I was born and raised in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. I attended college at Northern Arizona University and obtained a degree in Elementary and Special Education. Since graduating, I have been a caregiver for a young woman with a disability, a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) for an Autism Consultant Company, and a yoga and barre instructor on the side. With every one of my jobs, I strived to use my role to help empower each and every person I worked with through encouragement, care, and continuous support.

As it came time for me to move on from my caregiving role, my dad, a current Oasis franchisee owner, encouraged me to join him with Oasis as a Senior Advisor, and I jumped at the offer! Through this job I have the privilege to continue to use my role to help empower our clients and their families every step of the way.

SCL

Shana Carey, LPN

I have a son in college at the School of Mines, a husband who always supports me, and a Boxer named Rumber, who I just adore.

My passion for helping others started as someone who needed help herself.  When I was a teenager, I required surgery that resulted in spending six months in the hospital. During that stay, I grew to admire the nurses who were talented enough to provide great medical care coupled with hope and a connection that made me feel like a valued person. That experience inspired me to become a nurse.

Several years into my nursing career, my son was diagnosed with cancer. Despite my medical knowledge, I felt helpless…hoping and praying that by some miracle, my son would have the strength to battle cancer and even have a normal life. Through the battle, we found ourselves learning to enjoy all the little moments in life: a smile, dessert, and even a good view. Looking back, after my son has made a full recovery, we can’t help but remember how much of a positive impact the waitress at our favorite BBQ restaurant made (on our weekly trip to try to put some weight on our son) or that radiologist that talked to my son about his favorite subject: physics.

As a Senior Placement nurse, I am passionate about finding the perfect fit for your family. My goal is to ensure that your loved one receives the medical care they need while fostering the human connection that makes the transition smoother. I am here to provide guidance and support, offering the comfort and resources your family needs throughout this journey. Together, we can find the ideal facility that meets your loved ones' needs and ensures their well-being.

Trish Johns, MC

I was born in Flagstaff, AZ, and had the privilege of growing up in Sedona, AZ (a magical place if you've never been). I graduated from ASU West Campus with my BA in Psychology and graduated from The University of Phoenix with my Masters in Community Counseling. I started my career working with children as a Child and Family Therapist in AZ.

My husband and I then decided to move to Denver, CO, to enjoy the four seasons and escape from the grueling hot summers in AZ, where I transitioned into working with seniors. I have worked the last decade in long term care and rehab as the Director of Social Services. I have three beautiful children of my own, and I prefer the Clinical Liaison role which allows for flexibility in my schedule and the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with our clients, their families, and our healthcare partners in the community.

As a young child, I always wanted to advocate for people in need, and I love that my job fulfills this innate desire every day! In my spare time, I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, going to the lake, finding good bargains on Nextdoor and Facebook marketplace, singing in my car, and finding any holiday-related festivities.

Throughout my life, I have always been curious about digging deep into one’s life to help people overcome challenges and fears and help them in their journey. I have been in the senior industry for 24 years, first starting at an Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory community doing hair. My son, Hunter, was 6 weeks old when I took the job, and I was able to bring him to work where he had many grandmas and grandpas to love on him. It was simply the best! When my son Wyatt was born three and half years later, he, too, got to have the love of my extended family at the salon. I then took on the role of Sales and Marketing Manager with Brookdale Senior Living, where I had the opportunity to fall in love even more with seniors and their families in Kansas. Two and half years ago I was blessed with a job in Longmont where I was helping seniors find the perfect rehab to get stronger and go home while also transitioning seniors into long-term care. I remember when Oasis came to my building to help a family transition to long-term care and thinking, “Wow, I miss that part of helping families find their forever home!” While that was a blessing, I then became a navigator for those needing more extensive rehab and watched many miracles walk out of the hospital and go home.

I am such a blessed woman with an amazing husband, Tim, whom I was honored to marry 27 years after being my 8th-grade summer boyfriend. We have 5 amazing children and one bonus daughter we adopted into our lives when we moved out here. In my spare time, I love being a grandma to four granddaughters (one of whom is our little angel in heaven, always looking down on us) and one grandson.  I enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, day trips to a new destination with the hubby, shopping, drive-in movies, and spending family time together.  My passion is to always make a difference in someone’s life each day!

Circumstances change! After over 50 years of marriage, my wife began a litany of heart issues, which included numerous procedures, including open heart surgery. Her open heart surgery necessitated my becoming her caregiver, and I did so without any hesitation. Ultimately these heart procedures led to her developing vascular dementia. My stance on caring for her was summed up by the statement, “My caring for her was done not because I had to, but because I get to.” I developed a heart for caring for seniors and began a new career. After seeing firsthand the consternation and confusion families face in making choices on selecting facilities that will serve the needs of their aging family members, I thoughtfully considered and made a decision to become a member of the Oasis Senior Advisors team.

Amanda Varga, CSA

I have lived all over the country but have been in Colorado for the longest amount of time and absolutely love it here. Living in Colorado felt like coming home to a place I hadn't known before. My professional background is just as eclectic as the list of places I've lived, but I have grown and gained knowledge with every new challenge. I have a social work degree but have done office management, human resources, and marketing in fields varying from brain injury supported living and home care to software development and mortgages.
Having been a family caregiver for over seven years, I have experienced senior services from the professional side of the table as well as the personal. Caregiving for an aging loved one brings its own unique set of challenges, decisions, and guilt. My goal is to help families navigate their journey to the best possible outcome for everyone involved. I have three adult children who are each following their unique path and I am ridiculously proud of all of them. With my youngest heading off to college this fall, I'll be hanging out with the cats and seeing if I actually do all of the things I promised myself I would do “someday when I have time”…stay tuned!
