Improve Heart Health for Seniors in Seattle With Group Fitness Classes

A group of older adults stand in a well-lit group exercise classroom. Each person looks at the instructor and stretches one arm above their head with the other on their hip as they lean to the side.

Older adults in Seattle can stay physically active through local programs and events, helping themselves remain strong and healthy while encouraging longevity.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control says that physical activity “reduces the risk of dying from coronary heart disease and of developing high blood pressure, colon cancer, and diabetes.” As one of the leading causes of death in the United States, heart disease is a concern for many adults. By staying active through physical activity, seniors can help keep heart disease at bay.

Senior centers and organizations in the Seattle and King County area have fitness classes and events to provide older adults with opportunities to get their bodies moving. Many of these classes and events are inexpensive or free, so staying active doesn’t have to break the bank.

Below are organizations and senior center locations that offer ongoing fitness programs that cater to an array of interests of seniors in the Seattle area.
