Afh – A Delightful Place is licensed as a residential care home and can accept residents who need close clinical oversight. The team is prepared for memory-care challenges such as wandering—day or night—elopement risk, behavioral outbursts, and advanced dementia. Clinical protocols are in place for wound care, oxygen administration, diabetes management whether oral, injected, or sliding-scale insulin, and the community is open to adults under 60 who require this level of support. Residents who stay up all night, display combative behaviors, or have psychiatric diagnoses can also be accommodated.
A registered nurse or licensed practical nurse is on staff, with a nurse on call 24 hours a day. All staff members undergo background checks, night-shift caregivers remain awake, and exterior doors are alarmed with a personal emergency response system alerting staff if a resident needs help. The care team provides full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting. Transfers are managed according to individual ability, from standby assistance with a walker to one- or two-person transfers, full Hoyer lifts, or care for residents who are bed-bound.
Private and semi-private rooms are available, and each is furnished unless a resident prefers to bring personal furniture. Some rooms can be repainted or decorated to suit individual tastes, and cable service is offered in select units. Because configurations differ, not every accommodation includes every feature, so confirming specific room details during a tour is recommended.
Meals follow a set menu prepared in-house, and staff can deliver a range of diet modifications. Gluten-free meals, mechanical-chopped or puréed textures, thickened liquids, and other physician-ordered diets are routinely provided. Snacks are available between meals, and staff oversee nutritional intake for residents who require monitoring.
Community amenities include wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty salon, internet access, communal gardens, shuttle transportation for medical appointments only, and acceptance of Medicaid upon admission. Home-cooked meals are standard, and pets are allowed. It’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
