University House Wallingford offers both Assisted Living and Independent Living. Residents in Assisted Living receive help with day-to-day needs while still retaining as much independence as possible, and Independent Living residents benefit from a maintenance-free lifestyle with optional support services. The community can manage oxygen therapy, specialized diets, and oral-medication diabetes care, and staff members are trained to support residents living with mild dementia.
A registered nurse or licensed practical nurse is on staff, with a nurse available on call around the clock. Additional safeguards include 24-hour security personnel, pull-cord alerts in residences, and optional personal emergency response systems that link directly to staff. On-site podiatry visits reduce the need to travel for foot care. Team members are equipped to give some physical assistance with bathing, eating, dressing, and toileting, and they can accommodate mobility needs ranging from standby help to one-person transfers for residents who use walkers or wheelchairs. An activity director coordinates daily programming that encourages social engagement and physical activity.
Apartments are designed for comfort and practicality. Floor plans may include a kitchenette, independent temperature controls, cable hookup, and the option for residents to paint or decorate to their preference, though not every unit has every one of these features. Maintenance, utilities, and routine housekeeping are handled by staff, allowing residents to focus on daily routines and community life.
Dining is flexible, with made-to-order meals served in a communal setting, snacks available throughout the day, and the kitchen able to honor physician-ordered diet modifications and personal preferences. Independent Living residents can opt in to medication-management monitoring, weekly housekeeping, laundry service, and a monthly meal plan that covers a set number of meals while still allowing for cooking in their own kitchenette.
Residents have access to parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, an on-site barber and beauty shop, exercise and movie rooms, a wellness center, internet access, and scheduled transportation for errands or medical appointments. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
