Bellewood – A LifeMinded® Residence offers Independent Living supported by an on-site licensed nursing team that can coordinate wound care, oxygen use and complex diabetic management, including residents on oral medications, injections or sliding-scale insulin. Special diet oversight is available, so meals can be modified to match physician orders or personal health requirements. The community is able to support residents who live with mild dementia, and a visiting podiatrist helps residents stay current with foot and ankle care without leaving the building.

Additional safety layers include 24-hour staffing, security rounds, emergency pull cords in apartments and Personal Emergency Response Systems that alert staff day or night. Caregivers can give full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating and toileting, and they are trained in multiple transfer techniques, whether a resident needs stand-by help, a walker, a wheelchair or a one-person lift. An Activity Director plans cognitive, social and fitness programs appropriate for all ability levels, and an RN or LPN reviews care plans to keep services in compliance with changing health conditions.

Apartments may offer a private bathroom, kitchenette, independent temperature controls, cable service and the option to paint or decorate, although not every unit has every feature. Housekeeping, laundry and a monthly meal plan are bundled for Independent Living residents, and the staff can monitor medication schedules for those who want extra support while still enjoying the privacy of their own suite.

Dining provides three daily meals with a set menu, plus an on-order component for residents who prefer more choice. Snacks are available throughout the day, and the kitchen can accommodate diabetic, low-sodium, high-protein or other physician-directed meal modifications.

Residents have access to parking, scheduled transportation and convenient proximity to public transit. Common-area amenities include a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, wellness center, internet access points, a library, landscaped gardens and concierge services. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
