Brookdale Staunton delivers two levels of licensed care—Assisted Living and Memory Care—under the same roof, so residents can remain in one community even if needs change. The Memory Care program is equipped to manage advanced dementia as well as behaviors such as wandering (day or night), elopement risk, agitation, combativeness, staying up all night, and other behavioral issues. Clinical staff manage complex medical requirements including wound care, oxygen therapy, special diets, and diabetes care for residents using oral medications, injections, or sliding-scale insulin. The community also admits adults under 60 who require these same services.
Around-the-clock oversight is built into the operation. An RN or LPN is on site, a nurse is on call 24 hours, and awake night staff conduct safety rounds. Background-checked team members respond to pull cords and resident-worn PERS devices, while secured doors, alarms, a fenced courtyard, and constant staffing address wandering and elopement concerns. On-site podiatry visits and a therapy room reduce the need for outside appointments. Direct care includes full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and the team can support mobility ranging from walkers and wheelchairs to stand-by help, one- or two-person transfers, Hoyer lifts, and bed-bound care.
Accommodations vary in size and layout; some offer private bathrooms, kitchenettes, independent temperature controls, and the option to paint or decorate. Basic cable service, routine housekeeping, and scheduled laundry are provided, but not every apartment includes every feature listed. Independent Living residents, when applicable, may choose medication-management monitoring, housekeeping, and laundry services à la carte.
Dining follows a set menu with daily specials, but residents may also order on demand, request snacks at any time, or take meals in their apartment. A private dining room is available for family gatherings. The culinary team works closely with clinical staff to honor diet modifications, including gluten-free, vegetarian, mechanical-chop, puréed, and thickened-liquid plans, as well as physician-ordered diabetic and other therapeutic diets.
Residents have access to parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, and outdoor smoking spaces. Amenities include a barber/beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, internet access, chapel with on-site religious services, fireplace lounge, main dining room, activity room, library, concierge desk, and space for special-interest clubs. Programs range from Hallway Bingo, Bible study, Catholic rosary and prayers, and treat-and-drink carts to one-on-one and FaceTime visits. Scheduled transportation covers medical appointments and local errands. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
