Greenspring Continuing Care Retirement Community offers both Assisted Living and Independent Living. Residents in Assisted Living receive structured support that accommodates complex health profiles, including individuals who wander during the day or night, those with exit-seeking behaviors, people living with advanced dementia, and residents who require oxygen, special diets, or diabetes management on oral medications, injections, or sliding-scale insulin. Independent Living residents can add optional medication-management monitoring when needed, creating a seamless transition to higher levels of care without leaving the campus.
Clinical oversight is reinforced by registered and licensed nurses on staff and an on-call nurse around the clock. Caregivers stay awake on night shift, doors are alarmed, and wander-guard technology is in place. Residents have access to on-site podiatry, audiology, dental services, a therapy room, and psychiatric-issue acceptance. Full assistance is available for bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and the staff can handle transfers that involve walkers, wheelchairs, standby help, or one-person lifts. Pull-cord and personal emergency response systems link directly to staff, and background-checked personnel and 24-hour security are standard.
Apartments vary, so not every unit includes every feature, but options may include a private bathroom, kitchenette, furnished layouts, independent temperature controls, cable, in-unit laundry, and the ability to paint or decorate. Housekeeping is provided, and scheduled laundry services are available for residents who do not have in-unit machines. Independent Living residents can receive housekeeping, laundry service, and a monthly meal plan as part of their package.
Dining features both set menus and on-order choices, with snacks available throughout the day, in-room dining, and a private dining room for family visits. Diet modifications encompass gluten-free preparations, vegetarian options, mechanical-chopped or puréed meals, and thickened liquids. Independent Living participants can purchase a flexible meal plan and still cook in their own kitchenettes if they prefer.
Amenities include resident parking, outside smoking areas, pet-friendly policies, wheelchair-accessible common spaces, a barber and beauty shop, exercise and movie rooms, a wellness center, internet access, communal gardens, on-site religious services, stair glides, concierge service, a library, pool, special-interest clubs, and multiple transportation choices such as a community shuttle for medical appointments, a town-car service, and proximity to public transit. It’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
