Falcons Landing in Potomac Falls is a nonprofit life-plan community that delivers Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care on one campus. The health team is equipped to manage residents who wander morning or night, present elopement risk, show combative or other behavioral issues, stay awake overnight, or live with advanced dementia. Complex clinical needs such as wound care, oxygen therapy, special diets, and all levels of diabetic management—including oral medications, injections, and sliding-scale insulin—are handled on site. Residents younger than 60 can also be accommodated when their care needs fit these services.
Care delivery is supported by registered and licensed nurses on staff, with a nurse physically on site 24 hours a day and another on call. Background-checked staff provide both awake and asleep night-shift coverage, and an activity director coordinates daily programming. Safety measures include 24-hour security, front and rear fencing, door alarms, wander guards, pull-cord systems that alert staff or call 911, and personal emergency response systems. On-site medical services extend to podiatry, audiology, dental care, therapy space, and acceptance of psychiatric diagnoses. Staff can assist with full bathing, eating, dressing, and toileting, and they perform transfers ranging from walker and wheelchair support to two-person or Hoyer lift moves for bed-bound residents.
Residences vary, and not every unit contains every feature, but options can include a private bathroom, kitchenette, furnished space, independent temperature controls, cable, and the ability to paint or decorate. Housekeeping and laundry may be provided, and some units have in-unit washers and dryers. Independent Living residents can add medication-management monitoring, housekeeping, laundry, and a monthly meal plan to support a maintenance-free lifestyle while preserving autonomy.
Dining offers both set menus and made-to-order selections, with snacks available throughout the day. Meals can be taken in the main restaurant, a private dining room, or delivered to the apartment. Diet modifications cover gluten-free, vegetarian, mechanical-chop, purée, and thickened-liquid textures to meet physician orders and resident preferences.
Community amenities include resident parking, outdoor smoking areas, wheelchair-accessible design, a barber and beauty shop, exercise and wellness centers, a movie room, library, pool, communal gardens, on-site religious services, concierge desk, internet access, stair glide, and a variety of special-interest clubs. Scheduled transportation covers medical appointments via shuttle or town-car service and the community is near public transit. Pets are allowed; it's a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
