Our Father’s House in Culpeper offers both Assisted Living and Independent Living. Residents who choose Assisted Living can receive hands-on help while remaining in a homelike setting, and Independent Living residents can add services as needed. The community accepts individuals who wander during the day or night, have a history of elopement, display combative or other behavioral issues, stay up all night, require wound care, oxygen, special diets, or diabetes management—whether oral medications, injections, or sliding-scale insulin. Support is also available for residents under 60 and for those with advanced dementia.
Care delivery is backed by a registered or licensed practical nurse on staff, a nurse on-site around the clock, and a nurse on call 24/7. All employees undergo background checks, and night-shift staff remain awake. Safety features include 24-hour security, fenced outdoor areas, alarmed doors, WanderGuard systems, and pull cords and PERS devices that alert staff or dial 911. On-site medical providers visit regularly for podiatry, audiology, dental care, psychiatric issues, and therapy sessions. The team can supply full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting. Transfer capabilities range from standby help with a walker to two-person and Hoyer-lift transfers, including care for residents who are bed-bound.
Accommodations vary, so not every apartment contains every feature, but options include private bathrooms, kitchenettes, furnished layouts, independent temperature controls, cable service, and the ability to repaint or decorate. Some units provide in-suite laundry while others rely on scheduled laundry services. Housekeeping is standard across the building. Independent Living residents may choose medication-management monitoring, weekly housekeeping, laundry, and a monthly meal plan without moving to a higher care level.
Dining consists of a set daily menu plus on-order choices; snacks are available throughout the day, and meals can be delivered to the apartment or enjoyed in a private dining room. The kitchen can accommodate gluten-free, vegetarian, puree, mechanical-chop, or thickened-liquid diets and follows physician-ordered modifications.
Residents have access to parking, a barber and beauty shop, an exercise room, a movie room, wellness center, library, concierge desk, communal gardens, stair glide, pool, and special-interest clubs. Pets are allowed, and it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed. Outdoor smoking areas are designated. The building is wheelchair accessible and offers internet access, on-site religious services, and resident transportation options that include a scheduled shuttle for medical appointments, a town car, and proximity to public transit.
