The Retreat at Berryville provides both Assisted Living and Memory Care, with programming that extends to residents living with advanced dementia. The community accepts individuals who wander during the day or at night, are at risk of elopement, show combative or other behavioral issues, need wound care or oxygen, follow special diets, are younger than 60, or manage diabetes with oral medication, injections, or a sliding‐scale protocol. Staff members are trained to notice changes quickly and can coordinate primary care, specialty consultations, and emergency response.
Care delivery is reinforced by an on-site RN or LPN at all times, an additional nurse on call 24/7, and an awake night shift. Security measures include perimeter fencing, door alarms, WanderGuard technology, pull cords that alert staff or dial 911, and a staffed front desk. Podiatry, audiology, dental visits, psychiatric services, and therapy sessions can be scheduled in the building’s dedicated treatment room. Team members provide full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and they can support residents who use walkers, wheelchairs, need one‐ or two-person transfers, require a Hoyer lift, or are bed-bound.
Residences are available in several layouts, some with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, in-unit laundry, and independent temperature controls. All come furnished, but residents may bring personal items and can repaint or decorate to their preference. Cable, routine housekeeping, and scheduled laundry services are provided; in-unit laundry is available in select apartments.
Meals feature both a set menu and on-order choices, and snacks are stocked throughout the day. Residents may dine in the restaurant-style room, request in-room service, or reserve the private dining space for guests. The culinary team manages diet modifications such as gluten-free, vegetarian, mechanical chop, purée, and thickened-liquid plans, and coordinates closely with nursing for diabetic meal timing and other clinical needs.
Amenities include resident parking, outdoor smoking areas, wheelchair-accessible common spaces, and a barber/beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, wellness center, library, and communal gardens. Internet is available throughout the building, and on-site religious services are scheduled weekly. A pool, stair glide, concierge services, and several special-interest clubs add variety to daily life. Transportation options cover scheduled medical shuttles, local Townecar service, and proximity to public transit. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
