Brookdale Willows Sherman is an assisted-living community equipped to handle a wide range of health needs. Residents who wander—whether during the day or at night—receive close monitoring, and protocols are in place for elopement risks, combative behavior, general behavioral issues, and those who stay up all night. The staff supports residents with wound care, oxygen therapy, special diet requirements, diabetes management for both oral medication and insulin injections, and individuals under 60 who need an assisted-living setting. Care teams are trained to work with people living with advanced dementia, so memory-related challenges are addressed within the assisted-living program rather than requiring a separate unit.
Care delivery is strengthened by having an RN or LPN on staff and a nurse available on call 24 hours a day. All employees undergo background checks, and an awake night shift, door alarms, a fenced rear area, pull-cord and PERS alert systems, and staff on site around the clock help maintain resident safety. On-site podiatry visits reduce the need for outside appointments. The community can provide full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and it accommodates a wide range of mobility needs, from standby help for walkers to two-person or Hoyer-lift transfers.
Apartments may include a private bathroom, kitchenette, independent temperature controls, cable service, and the option to paint or decorate the room. Layouts vary, so not every residence offers every feature, but staff can guide prospective residents to the unit that best matches their preferences.
Three daily meals are served from a set menu, and snacks are available outside scheduled dining times. The kitchen team manages physician-ordered diet modifications, including therapeutic and texture-altered diets. Independent-living residents on campus can participate in a monthly meal plan, allowing them to dine in the common areas without committing to the full assisted-living service package.
Residents have access to parking, outdoor smoking areas, and wheelchair-accessible common spaces. Services include a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, wellness center, internet access, on-site religious services, and scheduled transportation for errands or appointments. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
