Shavano Park Senior Living offers both Assisted Living and Memory Care, enabling residents to stay in one community even as needs change. The team is equipped to manage advanced dementia, daytime and nighttime wandering, behavioral challenges, and “up all night” sleep patterns. Nurses monitor wound care, oxygen therapies, and special diet requirements, and the staff is able to support residents under 60 as well as diabetics who manage glucose with oral medications.
An RN or LPN is on-site, with a nurse on call at all times, and every employee has undergone background checks. Staff members remain awake through the night, and 24-hour security and pull-cord alerts add another safety layer. On-site medical providers cover podiatry, dental, pharmacy coordination, and accept residents with psychiatric diagnoses. Caregivers deliver full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and they are trained for mobility help ranging from standby support to one- or two-person transfers for residents who use walkers or wheelchairs.
Apartments vary in layout, and not all have every feature, but options can include private bathrooms, kitchenettes, independent temperature controls, and cable service. Residents may personalize their space with paint or décor. Housekeeping is provided, and scheduled laundry services reduce day-to-day chores.
Meals can follow a set menu or be ordered à la carte, and snacks are available throughout the day. The dining team handles dietary modifications such as mechanical-chopped, puréed, thickened-liquid, vegetarian, and other physician-directed plans. In-room dining is offered when needed, and a private dining room is available for family visits or special occasions.
Amenities include resident parking, outside smoking areas, wheelchair-accessible common spaces, a barber and beauty shop, exercise and movie rooms, internet access, communal gardens, on-site religious services, a dog park, an activities and crafts room, concierge assistance, special-interest clubs, and transportation for errands and appointments. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
