New Forest Haven in San Antonio offers both Assisted Living and Independent Living, with nursing and clinical resources scaled to the resident’s needs. The team is equipped to support adults who wander day or night, are at risk of elopement, display combative or other behavioral concerns, require wound care or oxygen, live with diabetes managed by oral medication, insulin injections, or sliding scale protocols, and residents under 60 who need a supportive setting. Advanced dementia care is available, and individualized nutrition plans address physician-ordered special diets.
A licensed nurse is on site or on call around the clock, backed by RN/LPN oversight, an awake night‐shift staff, and routine background checks for all employees. The building is secured with 24-hour staffing, pull-cord call systems, and a fenced rear area for safe outdoor access. On-site services include dentistry, podiatry, optometry, physical and occupational therapy, ambulatory and memory care programs, hospice coordination, incontinence management, massage therapy, and medication management. Residents who need help with activities of daily living can receive full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting. Transfer help ranges from standby with a walker to two-person or Hoyer lift moves for bed-bound individuals.
Apartments can be configured with a private bathroom, kitchenette, and independent temperature controls, although not every unit includes every feature. Floor plans are designed for wheelchair access and quick staff response via an in-room emergency system.
Meals are prepared to order, and snacks are available throughout the day. Pureed consistencies, no-salt, diabetic, and other therapeutic diets are routinely accommodated under the supervision of nursing staff to ensure compliance with individual care plans.
Residents have access to parking, wheelchair-friendly common areas, and outdoor smoking spaces. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed. Amenities include an on-site barber and beauty shop, internet access, religious services, a heated swimming pool, weekly housekeeping, full-time life-enrichment programming, activity and craft rooms, three landscaped courtyards with walking paths, a general store, library, private dining room, and a 24-hour emergency response system. Additional support is available through Adade Senior Care for home assistance, Legacy Healthcare for physical therapy, House Call Doctors for visiting physicians, Denise Welmaker for emotional counseling, Generations for moving and transition services, Legenda Pharmacy for medication delivery, Ageless Smiles for mobile dentistry, and Hospice Compassus for hospice and palliative care. Scheduled transportation is provided, and the campus is close to public transit.
