Mother Freda House Of Refuge is a residential care home prepared to handle a broad range of medical needs. The team can care for residents who wander at any time of day, have a history of elopement, stay up all night, require wound care, oxygen therapy, or need special diets. Younger adults under 60 are accepted, and the staff manages every level of diabetic care, from oral medications to injections and sliding-scale insulin. Mild dementia is supported, and individualized care plans are adjusted as conditions change.
Registered and licensed nurses are on staff, a nurse is on call 24 hours a day, and every caregiver undergoes background checks. Night shifts are awake, all exterior doors are alarmed, and the rear of the property is fenced to reduce exit risk. The staff provides full assistance with bathing, eating, dressing, and toileting, and is trained in multiple transfer techniques—including walker, wheelchair, standby or supervised transfers, one-person or two-person assists, full-body Hoyer lifts, and bed-bound care. Continuous on-site security and staff presence add another layer of oversight.
Private and semi-private rooms come furnished, and residents may paint or decorate to their taste, with cable available in select rooms. Because not every accommodation includes all features, prospective residents and families should confirm room specifics during a tour.
Meals follow a set menu planned by the on-staff dietician, with modifications for diabetic, low-salt, or other physician-ordered diets. Snacks are available between meals, and staff provide full assistance with eating when needed to ensure adequate nutrition.
Additional services include outdoor smoking areas, internet access, communal gardens, on-site religious services, medication management, laundry and housekeeping, visiting primary-care physicians, mobile ER visits, and scheduled transportation for medical appointments or errands.
