The Family’s Choice – Hillwood 2 operates as both an assisted-living residence and a licensed residential care home, giving families two recognized levels of care under the same roof. The team accepts residents with advanced dementia and can manage conditions that require close medical oversight such as behavioral issues, combative tendencies, wound care, oxygen therapy, special diets and diabetes management, including oral medications, injections and sliding-scale protocols. Support is also in place for adults younger than 60 who need long-term supervision or help staying safe at night.
Care delivery is anchored by round-the-clock licensed nursing coverage, with an RN or LPN on staff, a nurse on site 24 hours a day and another nurse on call. Background-checked caregivers remain awake during the night shift, and each room is equipped with emergency pull cords that connect directly to 911; personal emergency response systems can either contact 911 or alert staff. A secured rear area, door alarms and fenced grounds help prevent wandering. On-site podiatry visits reduce the need for outside appointments. Residents who need full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating and toileting receive it, and staff can handle transfers ranging from walker or wheelchair support to one- or two-person assists and Hoyer-lift moves.
Private and semi-private rooms are available, and some include a private bathroom. Families may bring furniture, choose paint colors or hang photos so the space feels familiar, and basic cable is accessible in rooms that are wired for it. Because floor plans and features vary, not every accommodation offers every option.
Meals follow a set menu but residents can order alternate items if they prefer. Snacks are stocked throughout the day, and the kitchen honors diet modifications such as low-sodium, diabetic or texture-altered plans as prescribed. Staff members provide full assistance at mealtimes for people who need help cutting food or using adaptive utensils.
Residents have access to on-site parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, an exercise space, a movie room, internet service, communal gardens and scheduled religious services. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed. Transportation for medical appointments and local errands is available, and the property sits near public transit for families who prefer that option.
