The McKendree provides both Assisted Living and Memory Care, allowing residents to transition seamlessly between levels of support as needs change. Staff can manage residents who wander during the day or night, remain awake overnight, require oxygen, or live with diabetes managed by oral medication, insulin injections, or sliding-scale protocols. The community also accepts people with advanced dementia, so families do not need to worry about relocating a loved one as cognitive changes occur.

Nursing coverage is continuous, with RNs or LPNs on duty around the clock and an awake night shift for immediate response. Background checks are completed on all employees, and the building is staffed and monitored 24 hours a day. A pull-cord system and personal emergency response service link residents directly to staff. On-site services include wound care, occupational and speech therapy, pain management, hospice, and resident or family counseling. Staff can provide full assistance with bathing, dressing, and toileting, as well as some help with eating. Transfers are supported for residents who walk independently, use walkers or wheelchairs, or need standby or one-person assistance.

Apartments at The McKendree vary, and not every unit offers the same features. Some suites include a kitchenette for light meal preparation, individual climate controls, and cable hookups so residents can set up their own TV and streaming devices. Independent Living residents receive weekly housekeeping and laundry service, eliminating routine chores and allowing more time for social or wellness activities.

Dining is prepared on site, with attention to specialized diets such as diabetic or texture-modified menus. Residents may take meals in the main dining room or reserve the private dining room for family gatherings or special occasions. Staff are available to offer cueing, tray service, or partial assistance as needed to ensure meals are safe and enjoyable.

Amenities include a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, on-site religious services, concierge desk, heated pool, special-interest clubs, game room, art studio, sewing room, and a well-equipped wood shop. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
