Kirby Pines Estates provides three levels of residential care—Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care—so residents can remain on the same campus even as their needs change. The community accepts individuals who wander during the day or night, have a history of elopement, exhibit combative or other behavioral issues, stay awake overnight, require wound care or oxygen, follow special diets, are under 60, or manage diabetes by oral medication, injection, or sliding scale. Staff are trained to support advanced dementia conditions and can deliver full assistance with bathing, eating, dressing, and toileting. Transfers are accommodated for residents who use a walker or wheelchair, need standby help, require one- or two-person transfers, depend on a Hoyer lift, or are bed-bound.
Round-the-clock clinical oversight is built into daily operations. An RN or LPN is on site 24 hours, with additional nursing staff on call, and caregivers work both awake and asleep night shifts. Background checks are completed for all employees, and the secured campus uses fencing front and rear, door alarms, wander guards, pull cords, and PERS devices to help prevent unsafe exits. An activity director coordinates programs, and 24-hour security staff are in place. On-site medical services include podiatry, audiology, dental care, a therapy room, and acceptance of residents with psychiatric issues, reducing the need for outside appointments.
Residences range from studios to larger apartments; not every unit has the same features, so prospective residents should confirm availability when touring. Options may include a private bathroom, kitchenette, independent temperature controls, and the ability to paint or decorate the space. Cable service, housekeeping, in-unit laundry, and scheduled community laundry programs are available.
Meals are prepared to order, and snacks can be requested at any time. Residents may eat in the main dining room, take meals in their rooms, or reserve a private dining room for guests. Diet modifications are supported, including gluten-free, mechanical-chop, puréed, thickened-liquid, vegetarian, and other physician-ordered plans. Independent Living residents can add medication-management monitoring, housekeeping, laundry, and a monthly meal plan to match their personal routines.
Amenities on the 60-acre campus include resident parking, outside smoking areas, wheelchair-accessible paths, and concierge services. Recreational choices span a barber/beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, wellness center, library, pool, billiards room, paint studio, woodworking shop, greenhouse, stocked fishing pond, social and card rooms, special-interest clubs, communal gardens, live-music events, and on-site religious services. A general store, stair glide, internet access, wellness clinic, and RV and boat parking add convenience. Transportation is offered by community shuttle for medical appointments and by a TowneCar for other local trips. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
