Colonial Hill Retirement Center offers an Independent Living program supported by on-site medical oversight. Staff members are prepared to monitor residents who use oxygen, require diabetic management—whether by oral medications, injections, or sliding-scale dosing—and those who need supervision overnight. Individuals younger than 60 can be accommodated, and mild dementia conditions are accepted with appropriate care plans. The team remains available throughout the night, ensuring prompt response to pull-cord alerts and other calls for assistance.
In addition to awake night staffing, the community maintains 24-hour security, alarmed doors, and an activity director who coordinates daily engagement. Residents who need some physical assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, or toileting receive help from trained caregivers, and transfer support ranges from standby supervision to aid with walkers and wheelchairs. These services allow residents to remain as independent as possible while having reliable help close at hand.
Apartments come in several layouts; some include private baths, independent temperature controls, cable hookups, and the option to paint or decorate. Because not every unit contains every feature, prospective residents are encouraged to confirm specific room details during their tour.
Dining is flexible. Two meals per day are included, with menu items prepared to order and staff available to accommodate physician-ordered or personal diet modifications. Independent Living residents can add a monthly meal plan for additional convenience, and medication-management monitoring, weekly housekeeping, and laundry service are also offered for this level of care.
Residents have access to on-site parking, scheduled transportation, and nearby public transit. Amenities include an exercise room, movie room, internet access, communal gardens, full kitchens in select units, walk-in showers, a guest apartment, visiting physician services, barber/beauty shop, baby grand piano, and designated outdoor smoking areas. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
