Spearfish – Edgewood delivers two primary levels of care: Assisted Living for residents who need intermittent help with everyday activities and Memory Care for those living with moderate dementia. Both programs are designed to help residents maintain as much independence as possible while making sure that licensed staff monitor health changes, manage medications, and coordinate with outside physicians or therapists when additional clinical interventions are required. Residents with cognitive decline benefit from structured daily routines, secured areas that reduce the risk of wandering, and programming intended to preserve existing abilities.
Additional care measures include an awake night‐shift team that performs regular safety checks and responds promptly to call systems. Staff can provide some physical assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, adjusting the level of help as a resident’s needs change. Care plans are reviewed periodically with families to make sure clinical directives remain current, and documentation is maintained in compliance with state regulations.
Accommodations range from studio layouts to larger one-bedroom apartments, offering private baths and emergency call systems; some units also feature kitchenettes, in-room climate controls, or patio access, but these options are not available in every apartment. Housekeeping, linen service, and maintenance are provided on a set schedule, and staff handle regular safety inspections to ensure equipment and fixtures remain in good working order.
Meals are served three times a day in a communal dining room, with menus developed to meet general nutritional guidelines as well as physician-ordered therapeutic diets such as low-sodium or diabetic plans. Snacks and beverages are accessible between meals, and staff are present to cue or assist residents who need help with meal setup or hand-over-hand guidance; however, not all tables have built-in adaptive utensils, so individual needs are addressed case by case.
On-site amenities include a wellness center for exercise or rehabilitation sessions, reliable internet access throughout the building, a library with large-print materials, and a variety of special-interest clubs that meet weekly.
