Ponderosa Lodge in Sioux Falls provides two levels of residential care—Assisted Living and Independent Living. Residents who require medical oversight can receive oxygen therapy, and team members are trained to support individuals living with mild dementia. Incontinence and ambulatory care are delivered on site, so residents do not have to leave the community for routine health needs.
Clinical coverage is continuous. A licensed nurse (RN or LPN) is on the roster and a nurse is on-call 24 hours a day. Caregivers remain awake through the night, and the community conducts background checks on employees. Residents have access to full assistance with bathing, dressing and toileting, along with standby supervision for meals. Transfer help ranges from simple standby to one-person lifts for those using walkers or wheelchairs. An activity director coordinates daily engagement, and security staff monitor the building around the clock.
Apartments may feature private bathrooms, individual climate controls and basic cable. Regular housekeeping and scheduled laundry are included for residents in Assisted Living, and the same services are offered to Independent Living residents who choose them. Because floor plans vary, not every unit contains every amenity listed.
Meals follow a set menu that covers three daily sittings, and the kitchen can modify entrées to support physician-ordered or preference-based diets. Staff members are available in the dining room to provide cueing or standby help for those who need a little oversight while eating.
Community amenities include outdoor smoking areas, wheelchair-accessible common rooms, an on-site barber and beauty shop, a library and several special-interest clubs. Scheduled transportation helps residents reach medical appointments, shopping centers and local events without relying on personal vehicles.
