The Blake at Edgewater offers assisted-living services designed to support residents who need help with daily tasks while still seeking as much independence as possible. A licensed nurse is on site at all times, and caregivers handle medication administration, monitoring of vital signs and routine wellness checks. Staff members are trained to assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility and continence care. An electronic health record system tracks each resident’s care plan, allowing physicians and nurses to adjust support quickly if conditions change. Emergency response pendants and in-room call systems link residents directly to caregivers around the clock.
Medical care is complemented by on-site therapy and clinical coordination. Physical, occupational and speech therapy sessions are scheduled in collaboration with outside providers, and visiting physicians, nurse practitioners and podiatrists see residents in the building to reduce off-site appointments. Chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and cardiac disease are monitored through regular assessments, and lab work can be arranged without residents leaving the community. Transportation for external medical visits is available for appointments that must occur off campus. The care team also manages pharmacy refills, pre-admission health assessments and ongoing family updates.
Accommodations include studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, along with a limited number of companion suites. Each unit has step-free entry, an accessible bathroom with grab bars and an emergency pull cord. Some residences add features such as private patios, walk-in closets or in-unit washers and dryers, but not every floor plan includes all of those elements. Weekly housekeeping, linen service, basic cable, Wi-Fi and utilities (excluding personal phone) are generally covered in the monthly fee, and maintenance staff handle repairs. Residents may furnish apartments with personal belongings to fit individual preferences.
Dining is provided three times daily in a central restaurant-style dining room, with menus overseen by a registered dietitian to address nutritional needs and special diets. Meals are cooked to order when possible, though a daily feature menu simplifies selections for residents who prefer routine. Snacks, beverages and room-service trays are available throughout the day, and guests may purchase meals for shared visits. Some apartments come with kitchenettes for residents who enjoy light food preparation, but not every unit includes this option. The dining team coordinates closely with nursing staff to adapt textures or portion sizes when medically required.
Residents can join a range of clubs and communities that meet on campus, encouraging social connection through interests such as gardening, book discussion, fitness or card games. Scheduled group activities, transportation to local events, housekeeping, laundry, concierge support and maintenance are bundled into the base service package.
