Garden Spot Village is an Independent Living community that can layer in significant clinical oversight when residents need it. The staff is trained to support residents who wander at any time of day, manage elopement risks, and care for people living with advanced dementia. Medical monitoring extends to wound care, oxygen use, special diets, and diabetic management—whether residents are on oral medication, injections, or sliding-scale insulin. The community also accepts adults under 60 who require these services, providing a broad clinical safety net within an Independent Living setting.
Daily support is structured and documented. All visitors sign in, which adds an extra level of security for residents prone to wandering. Podiatry, audiology, dental visits, and therapy sessions occur on-site, limiting the need for outside appointments. For personal care, staff can give full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting. Mobility services range from standby supervision to one-person transfers and full Hoyer lift support, so residents who rely on walkers or wheelchairs—or need total lift-based transfers—are covered.
Residences vary in size and layout, but many feature private bathrooms, independent climate controls, cable access, and the option to paint or decorate. Some units include in-suite laundry, while others use the scheduled laundry service. Housekeeping is available for all apartments, though specific features differ by unit. Independent Living residents can also enroll in medication-management monitoring, a service that provides reminders and compliance checks without converting the apartment to a licensed personal-care setting.
Dining is flexible. Meals are available from a set menu or made to order, and snacks can be picked up throughout the day. Diet modifications are routinely accommodated, and residents may eat in the main dining room, order room service, or reserve a private dining space for guests. Independent Living plans include a monthly meal package, housekeeping, and optional laundry service, allowing residents to scale support to their preferences.
Community amenities cover practical and leisure needs. There is resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common space, a pool, wellness center, exercise room, barber and beauty shop, library, movie room, communal gardens, special-interest clubs, and on-site religious services. Internet access is campus-wide, pets are allowed, and it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed. Scheduled transportation is offered for medical appointments and other local trips through the community shuttle.
