Laurel View Village Continuing Care Retirement Community offers three distinct levels of care—independent living, assisted living and memory care—on one campus. Residents with early-stage memory loss or advanced dementia can remain on site as needs change, and the community is prepared for conditions that involve wandering in the morning or evening, elopement risk, and other cognitive or behavioral challenges. Medical oversight is in place for wound care, oxygen therapy, special or restricted diets, younger adults under 60, and every stage of diabetes management, including oral medications, injections and sliding-scale insulin.
Round-the-clock clinical coverage includes registered or licensed nurses on site 24 hours a day, with additional nursing staff on call. Caregivers stay awake during the night shift, and every employee has passed a background check. Safety systems feature a secured perimeter, door alarms, wander-guard technology, pull cords and personal emergency response devices that alert staff immediately. On-site podiatry, a therapy room and acceptance of residents with psychiatric diagnoses expand in-house medical capabilities. Staff can assist with bathing, dressing, eating and toileting for those needing some physical help, and they can supervise or perform transfers by walker, wheelchair, standby or one-person lift.
Apartments are offered in several floor plans, some with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, independent temperature controls and cable service, while select units arrive furnished. Residents may paint or decorate to personalize their space. Housekeeping and scheduled laundry services are provided for all; however, not every accommodation includes every listed feature, so prospective residents should verify specifics during a tour.
Meals follow either a set menu or on-order format, with snacks available throughout the day and a private dining room for family gatherings. The culinary team supports gluten-free, vegetarian, mechanically chopped, puréed and thickened-liquid diets, as well as other physician-directed modifications. Independent-living residents can elect medication-management monitoring, housekeeping, laundry services and a monthly meal plan to supplement their more autonomous lifestyle.
Residents have access to parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a pool, wellness center, exercise room, barber and beauty shop, library, internet service, communal gardens and on-site religious services. Scheduled transportation helps residents attend off-campus appointments and outings. Pets are allowed; it's a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
