Belfair of Shawnee is a dedicated memory care community serving residents with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The program is structured to manage cognitive decline while addressing behavioral issues through consistent monitoring and medical oversight. Because the community focuses exclusively on memory support, resources and staff training are concentrated on dementia-related needs rather than on non-dementia medical conditions.
Licensed RNs and LPNs are on staff, and caregivers trained in memory care are present 24/7. Door-alarmed exits add another layer of safety, and medications are managed on-site to maintain accurate dosing schedules. A therapy room allows for rehabilitative sessions without leaving the building. Residents can receive full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and transfer help is available whether they use a walker, a wheelchair, or only need standby supervision.
Accommodation options include private and semi-private rooms, though not every room offers identical features. Some rooms have independent temperature controls for added comfort. Routine housekeeping and scheduled laundry services are provided so residents do not have to manage daily chores.
Meals are prepared with the ability to accommodate physician-ordered diet modifications. A private dining room is available for family visits or special gatherings, giving residents a quieter space when needed.
The building is fully wheelchair accessible and secured with controlled access and an emergency call system. Residents have use of common areas, an on-site barber and beauty shop, enclosed outdoor courtyards, and regularly scheduled life enrichment programming, including pet therapy. On-site religious services are offered, and transportation is available for medical appointments or planned outings.
