Cotter House Worthington is dedicated exclusively to Memory Care and is equipped to manage the full spectrum of cognitive decline, including advanced dementia. The care team is experienced with residents who wander at any time of day, attempt elopement, present combative or other behavioral challenges, stay awake through the night, require wound care, oxygen support, or follow specialized diets. Nurses also oversee complex diabetic protocols—oral medication, injections, and sliding-scale insulin—and the community accepts adults under 60 when appropriate.
Registered and licensed nurses are on-site around the clock, with additional nursing staff on call at all times. All employees undergo background checks, and an awake night shift monitors a secured environment that includes alarmed doors, fenced front and rear areas, and Wander Guard systems; in-room pull cords and personal emergency response systems alert staff. On-site services such as podiatry, a therapy room, and psychiatric care complement the daily presence of an Activity Director. Caregivers provide full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and they can perform every level of transfer—from standby help with a walker to two-person or Hoyer-lift transfers for bed-bound residents.
Resident suites vary, but many feature private bathrooms, kitchenettes, individual climate controls, cable service, and the option to paint or decorate. Housekeeping and scheduled laundry services are included, yet some rooms may not contain every listed feature, so prospective residents should confirm availability during a visit.
Meals are offered through a set menu or made to order, with snacks available throughout the day. The culinary staff accommodates physician-ordered and resident-requested diet modifications, coordinating closely with nursing oversight for diabetic, cardiac, or texture-modified requirements. Independent-living residents who choose to receive medication-management monitoring can do so under a tailored service plan that ensures proper dosing and documentation without the structure of full nursing care.
Amenities on the campus include resident parking, exterior smoking areas, wheelchair-accessible common spaces, a barber and beauty shop, exercise and movie rooms, a wellness center, internet access, communal gardens, and on-site religious services. Scheduled transportation and proximity to public transit make off-site appointments and outings manageable. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
