The Woodlands of Shaker Heights delivers two main levels of care—Assisted Living and Memory Care—and is equipped to work with residents who wander during the day or night, are prone to elopement, stay up all night, require wound care or oxygen, need special diets, are under 60, or manage diabetes with oral medication. The community also accommodates advanced dementia, adjusting care plans as cognition changes.
Round-the-clock nurse availability underpins daily operations. Residents have access to on-site nursing, hospice, medication management, incontinence care, ambulatory care, and regular visits from occupational, physical and podiatry therapists. Full assistance is available for bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and staff can perform standby, one-person or two-person transfers for walkers and wheelchairs.
Apartments vary in size and layout; some include kitchenettes, furnished setups, independent temperature controls and cable, and residents may repaint or decorate if desired. Housekeeping is provided in every unit, but not all rooms include all features, so it helps to confirm specifics during a tour.
Meals are offered as set menus or made-to-order selections, with in-room service, a private dining room for family gatherings and full diet management, including mechanical-chopped textures when prescribed.
Amenities include outdoor smoking areas, a pet-friendly policy, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise and movie rooms, a wellness center, internet access, communal gardens, on-site religious services, a concierge, library and several resident-run clubs. It’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
