Brookdale Durham offers two primary levels of long-term support: Assisted Living for residents who want help with daily activities and Memory Care for those living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Each program is delivered by trained caregivers who follow individualized service plans and can be adjusted as needs change.
Around-the-clock staffing means a qualified team member is on-site 24 hours a day, and physicians visit the community to oversee care. The residence accepts short-term respite stays and can manage diabetes through monitoring and medication assistance. Safety systems include a secured environment for Memory Care, an emergency call system in every apartment, a facility-wide sprinkler network, and door and perimeter security that operates at all hours.
Residences range from studio and efficiency layouts to units with kitchenettes, private bathrooms, and independent temperature controls. Select apartments feature wheelchair-accessible showers, furnished options, or space residents may paint and decorate. Cable or satellite television, Wi-Fi, and surface parking are available, and housekeeping and laundry services are included. Outdoor patios, walking paths, and landscaped gardens extend the living space, although not every apartment has each amenity.
Meals are prepared by the on-site culinary team and served restaurant-style three times daily. Menus accommodate low-sodium, no-sugar, gluten-free, kosher, vegetarian, and other physician-ordered diets. Residents can choose from set menus or on-order items, and snacks are available throughout the day. Room service is offered for those who prefer to dine in their apartments.
Daily life is supplemented by an activity center, arts and crafts sessions, yoga and other fitness programs, a library and computer lounge, live-well programs, karaoke, trivia, social outings, intergenerational events, birthday celebrations, and on-site clubs. Residents also have access to a fitness center, swimming pool, and opportunities for off-site excursions.
