Southminster offers Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care under one roof, allowing residents to move between service levels as needs change. The community is equipped to support moderate dementia conditions and provides specific medical oversight for residents who wander in the morning or evening, have elopement risk, remain awake overnight, require special diets, or manage diabetes with oral medications.
Clinical support is organized around a 24-hour nurse on call, an awake night shift, routine background checks for staff, and round-the-clock security. Residents have on-site access to podiatry visits and a fully equipped therapy room. Direct personal care includes full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, along with standby, one-person, walker, or wheelchair transfers, depending on the individual plan. An activity director coordinates daily programming that complements each resident’s care plan.
Accommodations range from studios to larger apartments; some include private bathrooms, kitchenettes, independent temperature controls, in-unit laundry, cable service, and the option to paint or decorate the space. Housekeeping and scheduled laundry services are provided, though not every unit has every feature. For those in Independent Living, medication-management monitoring, weekly housekeeping, personal laundry, and a monthly meal plan are available.
Dining is flexible. Residents may order meals as needed, take snacks at any time, request in-room delivery, or reserve the private dining room for visitors. The kitchen can modify diets for medical or texture reasons, providing mechanical-chopped, puréed, and thickened-liquid options when ordered by clinical staff.
Amenities include resident parking, pet-friendly policies, wheelchair access throughout, a barber/beauty shop, exercise and movie rooms, a wellness center, internet access, communal gardens, on-site religious services, concierge desk, library, swimming pool, scheduled transportation, and proximity to public transit. It’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
