Cedars of Chapel Hill Continuing Care Retirement Community delivers three levels of care: Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. Independent Living residents retain control of their daily schedules while having standing access to on-site nursing staff, periodic health assessments, and physician clinics held on campus. Assisted Living adds 24-hour supervision, hands-on help with dressing, bathing, and mobility, as well as medication management directed by licensed nurses. The Memory Care program is housed in a secured area and is staffed by professionals trained in dementia care who provide behavior monitoring, cueing, and structured cognitive activities. Across all care levels, the community maintains an on-call medical provider network so that urgent needs are addressed quickly without requiring residents to leave the campus.
Additional clinical and wellness services are built into the community’s daily operations. An on-site health center performs primary care visits, lab draws, and preventive screenings, and residents can schedule physical, occupational, or speech therapy in dedicated rehab suites. A registered dietitian oversees specialized diets and collaborates with nursing to monitor weight, hydration, and chronic disease markers. Emergency call systems installed throughout the property link directly to staffed nursing stations, and scheduled transportation is available for off-site specialist appointments. The community also offers fall-prevention classes, chronic condition management groups, and support sessions for family caregivers.
Housing options include cottage homes, villa apartments, and private or companion suites within the Assisted Living and Memory Care sections. Units may feature full kitchens, laundry hookups, walk-in showers, patios or balconies, and extra storage space; every residence is equipped with individual climate control, smoke detectors, sprinkler coverage, and 24-hour maintenance access. Weekly housekeeping and linen service are standard. Not all accommodations have all the features mentioned, so it is important to confirm specific unit details when touring the community.
Meals are prepared on site and served restaurant-style in the main dining room three times a day, with Independent Living residents able to opt for flexible meal plans if they prefer to cook in their own kitchens. Menus rotate regularly and offer multiple entrée selections, including low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, vegetarian, and gluten-free choices reviewed by the dietitian. A casual café and a grab-and-go market supply lighter fare throughout the day, and room service is available for residents who are ill or who prefer to dine privately. In Assisted Living and Memory Care, staff remain present during meals to provide cueing, adaptive utensils, or direct feeding assistance to ensure adequate nutrition.
