Home of the Good Shepherd in Saratoga Springs is a memory-care–only community focused on residents living with all stages of dementia, including advanced conditions. The staff manages behaviors associated with wandering both in the morning and evening, administers oxygen therapy, and accommodates physician-ordered special diets. Diabetic residents receive support whether they rely on oral medications, injections, or sliding-scale insulin. Incontinence care, ambulatory support, hospice coordination, medication management, and regular visits from a nurse, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and podiatrist are part of the standard medical offering.
Round-the-clock medical oversight is built into daily operations. A registered or licensed practical nurse is on site 24 hours a day, with an additional nurse on call. All employees undergo background checks, the night shift remains awake, and the property uses door alarms, fenced boundaries, and pull-cord systems that can connect directly to 911 or alert staff. Residents who need full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, or toileting receive that help, and both one-person and two-person transfers are available to ensure safe mobility. An activity director coordinates structured cognitive programs that match residents’ care plans.
Private suites are available, many equipped with their own bathroom, individual climate controls, and cable service, though not every room includes every feature. The design prioritizes clear sight lines and secure passageways to help residents remain oriented and reduce fall risks.
Meals follow a set menu prepared to meet physician-ordered dietary guidelines, including carbohydrate consistency for diabetics and texture modifications when needed. Staff remain on hand in the dining room to provide cueing or hand-over-hand assistance so that each resident consumes adequate nutrition and liquids.
Residents have access to on-site parking, a barber and beauty shop, an exercise room, a movie room, and a wellness center. Scheduled transportation is provided for medical appointments and local errands.
