Parkwood Heights operates as an Independent Living community designed to meet a range of medical needs. The staff is prepared to admit residents under 60 years old and can support individuals who present with mild dementia. Although residents live independently, they have access to routine podiatry services on-site, which helps reduce the need for off-campus medical trips.
The community maintains an awake night-shift staff, conducts background checks on employees, and uses both pull-cord and Personal Emergency Response System devices to alert staff when help is required. An activity director is on staff to coordinate daily programs, and caregivers can provide standby assistance with bathing and dressing as well as support for transfers by walker or wheelchair. Eating and toileting are handled on a self-care basis.
Apartments are available with private bathrooms, independent climate controls, and the option for residents to paint or decorate their spaces; not every unit includes all of these features, so it is best to verify availability during a tour. Weekly housekeeping is provided, and the Independent Living program includes medication-management monitoring to ensure prescriptions are taken as directed.
Meals are prepared on site, served in a central dining room, and planned to meet standard nutritional requirements. Residents may request modified portions or substitute items when medically advisable. The kitchen schedules three meals daily, with snacks available between seatings.
Amenities and services include resident parking, pet accommodation, wheelchair-accessible common areas, an exercise room, on-site religious services, a barber and beauty shop, concierge assistance, scheduled transportation, and a Townecar for local errands. It’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
