Plattduetsche Home Society offers both Assisted Living and Independent Living, giving residents flexibility as their needs change. The health program is set up to manage diabetes at several levels, including oral medications, injections and sliding-scale monitoring. Staff are also trained to support residents living with moderate dementia, and a dedicated therapy room allows physicians and therapists to coordinate exercise or rehabilitation sessions on site, reducing the need for outside appointments.
Around-the-clock clinical oversight is provided by an RN or LPN, with a nurse on call 24 hours a day. All employees undergo background checks, and an awake night shift, pull-cord alert system and 24-hour security team help ensure quick response times. Care aides offer some physical assistance with bathing, dressing, eating and toileting, and they can help with mobility by supervising walkers, securing wheelchairs or performing a one-person transfer when required. An activity director coordinates daily programs that complement each resident’s care plan.
Residences range from compact studios to larger units, and not every apartment includes every feature, so prospective residents should confirm availability. Options can include a private bathroom, kitchenette, individual climate controls and cable service. Housekeeping is provided, and households with in-unit laundry can handle personal washing themselves or choose scheduled laundry service.
Meals are prepared on site, and residents may order entrees to suit personal tastes. Snacks are available throughout the day, and a private dining room can be reserved for family gatherings. Therapeutic diets and menu modifications are handled by the culinary and clinical teams to support medical or cultural needs. Independent Living residents have access to a monthly meal plan, allowing them to join the dining room without committing to three meals a day.
Amenities include resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, wellness center, internet access, communal gardens, on-site religious services, concierge desk, library, swimming pool and several special-interest clubs. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed. Transportation is simplified by proximity to public transit and a scheduled Townecar service for personal errands and appointments.
