Peregrine Senior Living at Colonie is dedicated exclusively to Memory Care and is equipped to support residents living with every stage of dementia, including advanced conditions. The community is prepared for frequent wandering, daytime and nighttime exit-seeking, elopement risks, and residents who remain awake throughout the night. Clinical protocols cover complex medical needs such as wound care, oxygen therapy, strict diet management, and diabetes oversight whether the resident uses oral medication, injections, or sliding-scale coverage. The team also accepts residents younger than 60 when appropriate for the Memory Care program.
Around-the-clock medical supervision is anchored by registered and licensed practical nurses on site 24 hours a day, supplemented by routine visits from a podiatrist. Every shift is staffed with awake night personnel, and background-checked caregivers provide full assistance with bathing, dressing, and toileting, while offering standby help for eating. Transfer support spans walkers, wheelchairs, one-person assists, and standby supervision. Safety measures include a fenced rear perimeter, alarmed exit doors, wearable and pull-cord call systems tied directly to staff alerts, and continuous security coverage.
Residences are designed for comfort and practicality, with private bathrooms in many units, basic furnishings, individual climate controls, and cable access. Families may personalize the space by painting or decorating, subject to community guidelines. Not every room includes every listed feature, so confirming availability during a tour is recommended.
Meals are served three times a day with a choice of set menus or made-to-order alternatives. A registered dietitian oversees modified and therapeutic diets, accommodating low-sugar, low-sodium, texture-altered, and other physician-ordered plans. Snacks are stocked and available around the clock for residents who prefer frequent, smaller servings or who may wake hungry during nighttime hours.
Residents have access to outdoor smoking areas, wheelchair-friendly common spaces, an on-site barber and beauty shop, a movie room, a wellness center, internet connectivity, communal gardens, and scheduled religious services in the building. Transportation is offered for medical appointments and outings, and the campus is located near public transit stops for added convenience.
