United Methodist Communities at Pitman offers Assisted Living, Independent Living and Memory Care under one roof, giving residents the option to move between levels of support without leaving the community. The health team can manage oxygen therapy, special dietary requirements and oral-medication diabetes, and the Memory Care neighborhood is prepared for residents with advanced dementia conditions. This integrated clinical approach lets families know that changing health needs—whether cognitive or medical—can still be met on site.
Registered and licensed nurses are on duty around the clock, with another nurse always on call. An Activity Director coordinates daily engagement, while 24-hour staff coverage, door alarms, WanderGuard technology and in-room pull cords back up safety measures. A visiting podiatrist handles routine foot care, and aides provide full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating and toileting when required. For mobility, the team is trained in walker and wheelchair support as well as one- or two-person transfers, reducing the likelihood that a resident will need an outside placement as care needs progress.
Apartments vary in layout, and not every unit includes every feature, but available options include private bathrooms, individual climate controls, basic cable and the freedom to paint or decorate. Residents can furnish with their own belongings to create a familiar environment, and the building is fully wheelchair accessible to accommodate changing mobility.
Meals are prepared on a set menu with alternate choices to accommodate special diets, and snacks are available throughout the day. Independent Living residents may select a monthly meal plan that covers a predetermined number of meals while still allowing for cooking or dining out, offering flexibility along with cost control.
Resident parking, scheduled transportation and proximity to public transit help residents stay connected to the wider community. Amenities include a fitness room, barber and beauty shop, internet access, landscaped communal gardens and on-site religious services. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
