Sunapee Cove Assisted Living offers three levels of residency—Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care—so residents can remain in the same community even if their needs change. The Memory Care program accepts individuals with early-stage memory loss as well as those with advanced dementia and related behaviors, including residents who wander during the day or night, attempt elopement, or present other behavioral challenges. The team also supports adults under 60 who need supervision, residents requiring special diets, and people managing diabetes by oral medication, injections, or sliding-scale protocols.
Clinical support is anchored by licensed nurses on site around the clock, with an RN or LPN always available and an additional nurse on call 24/7. Staff remain awake overnight, all employees undergo background checks, and doors are alarmed with fenced outdoor areas to keep residents secure. A pull-cord and PERS system link each resident to staff at any hour. On-site medical services include visiting podiatrists, audiology, dental care, therapy space, and the ability to accept psychiatric cases. Full assistance is offered with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and the team can perform wound care and manage oxygen. Transfer help ranges from standby assistance with a walker to two-person or full Hoyer lift transfers, ensuring mobility needs are met as conditions change.
Residences are configured to support different budgets and preferences. Some apartments include a private bathroom, kitchenette, individual temperature controls, cable, and the option to paint or decorate; other layouts offer a more basic setup, so it is best to confirm specific features during a tour. Housekeeping and scheduled laundry are provided, and maintenance is handled by community staff to keep living spaces safe and functional.
Meals are served three times daily with both set menus and on-order choices, plus snacks available at any hour. Residents may dine in the restaurant-style dining room, request in-room service, or reserve a private dining area for family visits. The kitchen can handle physician-ordered diet modifications, diabetic needs, and texture changes. Independent Living residents can opt into medication-management monitoring, weekly housekeeping, laundry service, and a monthly meal plan that reduces the need for daily cooking while still preserving flexibility.
Additional amenities include resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, an exercise room, wellness center, barber and beauty shop, library, internet access, communal gardens, and on-site religious services. Special-interest clubs meet regularly, and scheduled transportation can take residents to appointments, shopping, and local events. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed. Outdoor smoking areas are designated for those who wish to smoke.
