Riverglen House offers both Assisted Living and Independent Living, enabling residents to choose the level of day-to-day support they need. Clinical attention is available for a wide range of conditions, including residents who wander in the morning or evening, show elopement risk, exhibit combative or other behavioral issues, stay up at night, require wound care, use oxygen, follow physician-ordered special diets, are under 60 years old, or manage diabetes with oral medication, injections, or sliding-scale insulin. Although the community manages these medical issues, it does not position itself as a specialized dementia program.
Additional health safeguards include an emergency call system in every apartment and a multidisciplinary clinical team on site. Registered nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and caregivers provide personal care assistance, medication management, hospice coordination, and incontinence services. Staff can deliver full assistance with bathing, eating, dressing, and toileting, and they are trained to handle transfers ranging from simple standby to two-person or full Hoyer lift support for bed-bound residents. Diabetic monitoring, ambulatory care, and pet-focused therapy programs round out the medical and wellness services.
Apartments vary in size and layout; some have private bathrooms, kitchenettes, furnished living areas, in-unit laundry, cable service, and regular housekeeping, but not every unit includes every feature. Independent Living residents receive weekly housekeeping and laundry service to help them maintain a low-maintenance lifestyle without giving up autonomy.
Meals are prepared on site, and the dining team can adjust textures, portion sizes, and nutritional content to meet physician-ordered diets such as diabetic or low-sodium plans. Snacks are available throughout the day, and a private dining room can be reserved for family visits or special occasions, allowing residents to maintain normal social routines while accommodating clinical dietary needs.
Riverglen House also provides resident parking, scheduled transportation, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, wellness center, internet access, on-site religious services, a library, special-interest clubs, and a pet-friendly policy. It’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
