Independence House – Mandarin is dedicated exclusively to Memory Care and can serve residents with routine cognitive decline as well as advanced dementia conditions. The team can manage individuals who wander in the morning or evening, attempt elopement, present combative or other behavioral issues, remain awake through the night, or live with psychiatric diagnoses. Medical oversight extends to residents on oxygen, those following special diets, adults under 60, and diabetics whether they use oral medications, injections, or a sliding-scale regimen.
An RN or LPN is on staff, and a nurse is on call 24 hours a day. Caregivers stay awake overnight, with background-checked staff monitoring alarmed doors, a fenced rear area, and personal emergency response systems that alert the team. Residents receive full assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting when needed. Transfer help ranges from standby or one-person support to two-person, full transfer with a Hoyer lift, or care for someone who is bed-bound. Podiatry visits are available on site, and the community accepts residents with complex psychiatric needs. An activity director coordinates daily programming adapted to each resident’s abilities.
Living accommodations include private bathrooms in many suites, the option to paint or decorate a room, and cable hookups. Because layouts vary, not every apartment contains every listed feature, so it is helpful to verify specific details during a tour.
Meals are offered through both a set menu and an on-order system, with snacks available between meals. The culinary staff can accommodate physician-ordered diet modifications and ongoing diet management plans, including diabetic, low-sodium, and texture-adjusted options.
Community features include wheelchair-accessible common areas, an on-site barber and beauty shop, internet access, communal gardens, and regular religious services held in the building. Scheduled transportation helps residents reach off-site appointments or events.
