Our Mother Of Good Counsel is a dedicated memory-care community designed to meet the needs of residents living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, including advanced stages. The team is equipped to manage complex medical profiles, offering support for residents who wander during the day or night, remain awake throughout the night, require wound care, oxygen therapy, or special diets. Diabetic management is available for those on oral medications, injections, or sliding-scale regimens, and the community accepts adults under 60 who need memory-care services.
Care delivery is backed by an RN or LPN and a nurse on site 24 hours a day. All staff undergo background checks, and night-shift personnel remain on duty even when residents are asleep. Alert systems include in-room pull cords and personal emergency response devices that connect directly to staff. The campus hosts on-site podiatry, audiology, dental services, a therapy room, and accepts residents with psychiatric conditions. Full assistance is offered for bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and transfer help ranges from standby and one-person assists to two-person transfers, Hoyer lifts, and care for residents who are bed bound. Continuous security and an activity director help maintain a structured, safe environment.
Resident quarters may feature a private bathroom, basic furnishings, and cable service, although not every unit includes all these elements. Layouts and décor are kept straightforward to reduce confusion for memory-care residents while still allowing families to personalize spaces with familiar items.
Meals follow a set menu that prioritizes consistency, but the kitchen can accommodate physician-ordered diet modifications such as low-sodium, diabetic, or texture-altered plans. Snacks are available throughout the day to support balanced blood sugar levels and address the nutritional needs common to dementia care.
Amenities include outdoor smoking areas, wheelchair-accessible common spaces, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, wellness center, high-speed internet access, and communal gardens. Residents can attend on-site religious services, use scheduled transportation for appointments, and take advantage of nearby public transit for additional outings.
