Dolan Memory Care at Schuetz is dedicated solely to residents who live with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Licensed nurses supervise care around the clock, handle medication administration, and monitor chronic health conditions in coordination with each resident’s physician. The community can arrange on-site visits from primary care doctors, podiatrists, and therapy providers as needed, and it offers hospice coordination when a higher level of support becomes appropriate.
Beyond core medical oversight, the staff is trained in dementia-specific techniques that help reduce agitation and support daily functioning. A low staff-to-resident ratio allows caregivers to redirect behaviors promptly, assist with bathing, dressing, and continence, and make regular safety checks. The team develops individualized care plans, updates families regularly, provides transportation to medical appointments, and maintains an electronic record system so outside specialists receive accurate information.
Accommodations include private and shared rooms, each furnished and equipped with emergency call features, wide doorways, and bathroom grab bars. Some suites add in-room showers, bay windows, or direct access to secured outdoor walking paths, but not all accommodations have all the features listed. Housekeeping, personal laundry service, and building-wide Wi-Fi are standard. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
Residents receive three daily meals prepared in the on-site kitchen under the guidance of a registered dietitian, with menus adjusted for physician-ordered diets, allergies, and texture-modified needs. Caregivers provide cueing or hand-over-hand assistance at mealtime when necessary, and snacks and hydration stations remain available throughout the day. Families are welcome to join meals with prior notice, and themed dining events are scheduled periodically. Kitchenettes are available in select units, but not every accommodation includes this option.
