Garden View Care Center of Chesterfield is a dedicated memory-care community that works with residents who have early to advanced dementia. Care teams are trained to address wandering at any time of day, elopement risk, combative behavior, nighttime wakefulness and other behavioral issues common to cognitive decline. Nurses manage wound care, oxygen therapy and diabetes in all forms, whether residents are on oral medications, injections or a sliding-scale regimen.
A registered nurse or licensed practical nurse is on site around the clock, and an awake night-shift team monitors secure, alarmed doors, fenced outdoor areas, pull-cord and PERS alert systems and WanderGuard technology. On-site podiatry, audiology, dental services, a therapy room and acceptance of psychiatric issues reduce the need for outside appointments. Residents can receive full assistance with bathing, eating, dressing and toileting. Mobility support ranges from simple walker help to one- or two-person transfers, Hoyer lifts and full bed-bound care. An activity director coordinates daily programming adapted to each resident’s cognitive level.
Private and semi-private rooms are available; some include a private bathroom, basic furnishings, cable access, independent temperature controls and the option to paint or decorate. Because layouts vary, not every accommodation contains every feature, so confirming details during a tour is recommended.
Meals follow a set menu prepared to meet physician-ordered diet modifications such as low-sugar, low-salt or mechanical-soft plans. Snacks are available between meals so residents who forget mealtimes or prefer smaller, more frequent servings can still maintain proper nutrition.
The community offers resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, a movie room, a wellness center, communal gardens and on-site religious services. Scheduled transportation is available for medical appointments and local errands.
