The Arbors at Capetown delivers a dedicated memory care program for older adults living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Licensed nursing staff is on-site around the clock to monitor conditions, administer medications and respond to changes in health status. Each resident receives an individualized care plan developed in consultation with physicians, family members and the community’s interdisciplinary team. Safety is reinforced through secured entrances, wander-management technology and regular cognitive and physical assessments that help staff adjust interventions promptly.
Supporting services reinforce the medical care. Certified caregivers assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing and continence management, and they track daily vitals to catch emerging issues early. Rehabilitation therapists and visiting clinicians—from podiatrists to hospice providers—are coordinated through the community for added convenience. A full-time life enrichment director oversees dementia-specific programming designed to maintain mobility, stimulate cognition and reduce agitation. The community’s emergency call system links residents directly to staff, and fall-prevention measures are built into routine rounds.
Accommodations include a selection of private and companion suites equipped with step-in showers, grab bars, individual climate controls and emergency pull cords; some suites add features such as kitchenettes or bay windows, but not every unit includes every option. Weekly housekeeping, personal laundry service and maintenance are provided, and residents can bring familiar furniture and décor to personalize their living space.
Dining is handled in a central restaurant-style dining room where three daily meals are prepared by kitchen staff under the guidance of a registered dietitian. Menus accommodate physician-ordered diets, including low-sodium, diabetic and pureed options, and caregivers are present to offer cueing or assistance as needed. Snacks and beverages are available throughout the day, and families are welcome to join meals with prior notice.
