Truewood by Merrill, Ocean Springs offers both Assisted Living and Independent Living, allowing residents to choose the level of day-to-day support that fits their needs. Short-term respite stays are an option for recovery periods or caregiver breaks. Residents who need help managing diabetes have access to dedicated monitoring and care, and on-site physician visits reduce the need for outside appointments. A speech therapist is available for residents working on communication or swallowing issues.
Additional medical and personal-care services include help with bladder or bowel incontinence, ambulatory assistance, and medication management overseen by licensed staff. Physical, occupational, and massage therapists provide rehabilitative and wellness services on site. Hospice coordination is available for residents who require end-of-life support. Staff can assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, and toileting when residents need some, but not total, assistance. While parts of the campus are designed to accommodate memory loss, the community does not maintain a dedicated dementia program.
Apartments are offered in a range of layouts; select units include a private bathroom and some feature a compact kitchenette for light meal preparation. Not every accommodation contains all these features, so confirming individual floor-plan details during a visit is recommended.
The dining program centers on a set menu of balanced meals prepared in-house, with snacks available throughout the day. Dietary modifications are handled upon request, allowing residents who follow low-sugar, low-salt, or other physician-ordered diets to stay on track without extra effort.
Residents have use of on-site parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, wellness center, internet-enabled lounges, communal gardens, and a library. Special-interest clubs meet regularly, giving residents opportunities to pursue hobbies with peers. Transportation services include scheduled community shuttle trips and medical appointments. Pets are welcome; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
