Old Main Village in Mankato operates as both an Assisted Living and Independent Living community. Residents who choose Assisted Living receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating and toileting, all of which can be provided at a full-assistance level. Individuals living independently have the option to add services as needed, allowing them to maintain control over their daily routines while having support close at hand.
Round-the-clock clinical coverage underpins the care model. A registered nurse or licensed practical nurse is on staff, and a nurse is on call 24 hours a day. Staff respond to pull cords and personal emergency response systems, and background-checked personnel are on site at all times for security. The community manages oxygen therapy, special diets, and both oral and injectable diabetes care. On-site podiatry and a therapy room reduce the need for outside appointments. Residents who use walkers or wheelchairs, need standby supervision, or require a one-person transfer receive assistance as part of their care plan. Old Main Village does not provide specialized dementia services.
Accommodations range from apartments with private baths and kitchenettes to more compact layouts; not all units include every feature. Most residences offer independent temperature controls and cable service, and residents may paint or decorate their spaces. Housekeeping and scheduled laundry are provided for Assisted Living residents, while Independent Living residents can opt for housekeeping and laundry on an à-la-carte or bundled basis.
Dining services include a set menu of chef-planned meals, an on-order option for greater flexibility, and snacks available throughout the day. In-room dining can be arranged for those recovering from illness or preferring private meals, and a separate dining room is available for family gatherings and celebrations. Special diets are managed by clinical staff and culinary teams to align with medical directives such as diabetic or low-sodium needs.
Residents have access to a range of amenities that support daily life and leisure, including resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, wellness center, library, pool, internet access, communal gardens and on-site religious services. Concierge services coordinate transportation, and the property is close to public transit for residents who wish to travel independently. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
