New Perspective Barnum offers two primary levels of residential care. Its Assisted Living program supplies scheduled and unscheduled assistance with bathing, dressing, continence, mobility, medication management, and other activities of daily living. On-site licensed nurses oversee care plans, provide routine health assessments, and coordinate directly with residents’ physicians, pharmacies, and outside specialists. The community’s Memory Care neighborhood serves people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias; staff members receive dementia-specific training, monitor behavioral changes, and implement evidence-based interventions to reduce agitation and support cognition. A secured environment and 24-hour staffing help maintain safety while enabling as much independence as practical.
Beyond day-to-day personal care, the community coordinates physical, occupational, and speech therapies through outside providers, offers transportation to medical appointments, and arranges on-site lab work when needed. The clinical team tracks vitals and fall risk, maintains electronic health records, and communicates changes in condition to families and physicians. Short-term respite stays are available when space permits, and the staff can work with hospice agencies to keep residents comfortable during end-of-life care. A round-the-clock emergency response system ensures that help is minutes away at any hour.
Living quarters range from studio suites to one-bedroom and companion apartments. Features such as kitchenettes, barrier-free showers, individual climate controls, and emergency call pendants are available in many units, although not all accommodations have all the features. Housekeeping, linen service, and maintenance are provided, and residents can furnish their spaces with personal items to create a familiar setting. Common areas include lounges, activity rooms, and secured outdoor courtyards accessible to both assisted living and memory care residents.
The culinary team prepares three daily meals plus snacks, using menus reviewed by a registered dietitian to meet varied nutritional needs and physician-ordered diets. Meals are served restaurant-style in the main dining room, with a separate, quieter space for memory care residents who benefit from reduced stimulation. Staff observe intake, document any changes in appetite, and adjust portion sizes or textures as recommended. Family members are welcome to join for a fee, and residents who miss a scheduled mealtime can request alternate options so that nutritional goals remain on track.
