The Village of Westland’s Rose Cottage provides three levels of care—Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care—under one roof. Residents who wander, whether during the day or overnight, are closely monitored, and the team is trained to manage behavioral issues, specialized diets, oxygen therapy, and advanced dementia conditions. Diabetes management is available for those on oral medications, insulin injections, or sliding‐scale protocols, and the community accepts adults under 60 when clinically appropriate. Podiatry visits are handled in-house, prescriptions are filled through the on-site pharmacy service, and psychiatric needs are accommodated, allowing residents to stay in familiar surroundings even as care requirements change.
Care delivery is supported by an RN or LPN on staff and an on-call nurse 24 hours a day. Background-checked caregivers remain awake overnight, and every exterior door is alarmed. Residents can summon help through pull cords or personal emergency response systems. Hands-on assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting is offered up to full-assist levels. Transfer help ranges from standby support to one-person mechanical or wheelchair transfers, ensuring mobility needs are met safely.
Private and companion apartments are available, some featuring a private bathroom, kitchenette, independent temperature controls, cable service, and basic furnishings. Housekeeping is scheduled for all residents, while Independent Living residents may opt for lighter housekeeping, on-site laundry rooms, or full laundry service. Not every unit includes every feature, so prospective residents are encouraged to confirm specific amenities when touring.
Meals are served three times daily with both set menus and made-to-order options, and snacks are offered throughout the day. The culinary team accommodates physician-ordered diets, including diabetic, low-sodium, and texture-modified plans. Families can reserve the private dining room for celebrations or quiet visits, and Independent Living residents may choose to prepare simple meals in their own kitchenettes or rely entirely on the dining program.
Community features include wheelchair-accessible common areas, an exercise room, wellness center, library, barber/beauty shop, and landscaped gardens for group or individual activities. Residents attend on-site religious services, join special-interest clubs, and stay connected through facility-wide internet access. Scheduled transportation and a shuttle are available for private appointments and group outings. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
