Cortland of Howell offers both Assisted Living and Memory Care so residents can receive help with daily routines while remaining in the same community if their needs change. The clinical team is prepared to manage a wide range of conditions, including residents who wander at any time of day, have elopement risk, present combative or other behavioral issues, stay awake throughout the night, require wound care, oxygen therapy, special diets, or live with diabetes that is treated by oral medications, injections, or sliding-scale insulin. Residents under 60 years of age and those living with advanced dementia are also supported, making the community an option for adults whose health needs are complex or evolving.
Care is delivered by 24-hour on-site staff with an awake night shift and a nurse on call around the clock. Door alarms, pull cords, and personal emergency response systems alert staff if assistance is needed. A dedicated Activity Director oversees therapeutic programming, and podiatry services are provided on-site to limit the need for outside appointments. Team members can give full assistance with bathing, eating, dressing, and toileting, and are trained to perform standby, one-person, or two-person transfers for residents who use walkers or wheelchairs.
Apartments include private bathrooms, optional kitchenettes, cable service, and the ability to paint or decorate the space, but not every unit contains every feature. Regular housekeeping and scheduled laundry services are supplied, and staff can coordinate maintenance so residents have a clean, functional environment without handling chores themselves.
Dining offers both set menus and made-to-order choices, with snacks available throughout the day. The culinary team monitors diet modifications for medical or personal preferences, including diabetic, low-sodium, and other physician-ordered plans. Residents in the community’s Independent Living option can request medication-management monitoring, giving them an extra measure of safety while they continue to live with greater autonomy.
Amenities include wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, internet access, on-site religious services, patio, café or pub-style dining areas, a library, fireplaces, music and pet therapy sessions, and sunrooms with outdoor patios. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
