The Brook of Houghton Lake provides two main residential options—Assisted Living and Independent Living. Residents who choose Assisted Living receive help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and medication reminders, while those in Independent Living maintain a more self–directed lifestyle with access to support if needs change. Short-term respite stays are available for individuals recovering from surgery or when family caregivers need a break, and specialized oversight is offered for diabetes management and speech-therapy needs.
Additional clinical resources are situated on-site to reduce outside appointments. A licensed nurse is present, and residents can meet with occupational, physical, and speech therapists as prescribed. Memory-care oversight, incontinence management, ambulatory support, hospice coordination, and podiatry visits are also arranged in-house. An emergency call system is installed in resident apartments and common areas to alert staff quickly around the clock, adding a straightforward layer of safety.
Apartments are available in studio and efficiency layouts, and each unit includes basic utilities and cable TV. Wheelchair-accessible showers, housekeeping service, and parking spots are offered in select residences. Some apartments open to outdoor areas, while others are steps away from the library and computer lounge. Pet-friendly housing is possible, but not every unit can accommodate animals or all features listed, so prospective residents should confirm details during a visit.
Dining services supply three daily meals plus snacks. Menus are planned to meet general nutrition standards, and the kitchen staff can modify dishes to support physician-ordered diets, including carbohydrate-controlled meals for residents managing diabetes. Residents who prefer lighter fare or need texture-modified options can request alternatives without additional cost.
Daily life is supplemented by an activity center for crafts, exercise, and group programs. Planned social outings give residents the chance to shop, dine out, or visit local attractions, and outdoor seating areas allow them to spend time outside on campus when weather permits.
