Porter Hills offers four levels of care—Assisted Living, Independent Living, Residential Care Home, and Memory Care—allowing residents to move between service levels without leaving the community. The campus is equipped to manage complex medical profiles, including residents who wander, elope, display combative or other behavioral issues, remain awake at night, require wound care, use oxygen, follow special diets, are under 60 years old, or are diabetic on oral medication or injections. Advanced dementia support is available in secured areas designed for cognitive impairment.
Clinical oversight is continuous. A registered nurse or licensed practical nurse is on-site 24 hours a day, backed by additional nursing staff on call at all times. Background-checked caregivers remain awake on night shifts, and door alarms, fenced courtyards, wander-guard systems, pull-cords, and personal emergency response systems help maintain safety. The community accepts residents with psychiatric diagnoses and brings in podiatry services on-site. Full assistance is available with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting, and staff can manage transfers ranging from standby support to one-person lifts for those using walkers or wheelchairs.
Apartments vary in size and layout; not every unit includes every feature, but options may offer a private bathroom, kitchenette, basic furnishings, independent temperature controls, cable, and the opportunity to paint or decorate the room. Residents choose between set menus and made-to-order entrées, and snacks are available throughout the day. Therapeutic diets such as diabetic, low-sodium, or texture-modified meals are prepared under dietitian oversight.
Independent Living residents can add medication-management monitoring, weekly housekeeping, personal laundry service, and a monthly meal plan to their standard package. These services allow them to maintain autonomy while ensuring necessary support is in place if health needs change.
Community amenities include resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, a barber and beauty shop, exercise room, movie room, wellness center, internet access, communal gardens, and on-site religious services. Scheduled transportation is available, and the campus is close to public transit. Pets are allowed; it’s a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed.
