American House Grand Blanc offers both Assisted Living and Independent Living, allowing residents to choose the level of help they need while staying in the same community. The care team can manage residents who require overnight monitoring, wound care, oxygen therapy, special diets, and diabetic management ranging from oral medications to injections and sliding-scale insulin. Mild dementia conditions are supported, so residents with early cognitive changes can remain on campus with familiar routines and caregivers.
A licensed nurse is on site around the clock, backed by additional RNs or LPNs, an awake night staff, and a personal emergency response system that immediately alerts team members. Background-checked caregivers handle medication management, incontinence and ambulatory care, and can coordinate physical, occupational, and massage therapy, podiatry, and hospice services. Help with bathing, dressing, and toileting is available up to full assistance, and the staff can supervise or perform one-person transfers for those using walkers, wheelchairs, or who are bed bound. Security personnel are present 24 hours a day, and an activity director keeps daily programs running.
Apartments vary in size and layout; some include private bathrooms, kitchenettes, independent temperature controls, cable, and regular housekeeping, while others may have only a selection of these features. Residents in Independent Living receive weekly housekeeping and linen service, and staff can arrange laundry as an add-on. Medication-management monitoring is also available for Independent Living participants who want oversight without moving to Assisted Living.
Meals are served three times daily with a set menu, plus an on-order option for residents who prefer alternatives to the day’s selections. In-room dining is offered when a resident is ill or simply wants privacy. Therapeutic diets prescribed by a physician are honored. Independent Living residents can enroll in a monthly meal plan that covers a specific number of meals yet still allows them to cook in their own kitchenettes.
Resident parking, wheelchair-accessible common areas, and scheduled transportation support personal outings and medical appointments. The community allows pets; it's a good idea to check with the community during your visit to see if your pet will be allowed. Other amenities include outdoor smoking areas, a beauty and barber shop, exercise room, movie room, internet access throughout the building, communal gardens, and on-site religious services.
